Edward "Butch" Varner, D.Min, LPC

Dr. Butch Varner is a retired Army Chaplain. He has been doing counseling for over 25 years. Dr. Varner’s training is in Psychoanalytic Theory, Rogerian Person Centered Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Existential Therapy and Gestalt Therapy. Further, he has worked with a multitude of types of people and problems.  Dr. Varner did several Clinical internships in Cleveland, TN with Dr. Biller as well as a Neuropsychological Internship with Dr. William VanHorn. 

Dr. Varner teaches Psychology at Miller-Motte Technical College in Chattanooga, TN as well as Bethel University in their online College of Professional Studies.  He also guest lectures at the Asian School of Christian Ministries in Manila, Philippines. Dr. Varner also frequently does training with Pastors and Christian Leaders in Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Varner speaks Japanese as well as English. 

Dr. Varner has a Bachelor’s Degree from Lee University, Cleveland, TN, a Master of Divinity from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, Cleveland, TN, as well as a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Doctorate of Ministry in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, TN.  Dr. Varner is Married to Jenny Manning Varner and has two adult sons.
